ARTblast at ARTworks provides an opportunity for children from ages 6-12 to experience art from different times in history. Our goal is to help children establish a creative outlook on life and art while having fun. Class fees include instruction, studio use, materials and a snack everyday: mornings, 8am-12:30, are for the six-through-eight year old program; 1pm to 5:30pm for nine-through twelve-year olds. week 4 ~ August 2-6 Surreal Surrealists and the Dada movement
During this week students will learn about the surrealist artists like Marcel Duchamp, Rene Magritte, and Salvador Dali. Students will experiment with the ideas of surrealism by creating paintings by pouring paint on a surface, experimenting with photography, and by creating an abstract sculpture.

The York W. Bailey Museum is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for seniors; $2 for youth (up to age 16). Named for a Penn School graduate and the first African American Medical doctor to serve St. Helena and neighboring Islands, the museum is housed in the Historic Cope Industrial Building. It is comprised of four Galleries and a Book and Gift Store. Open to the public, over 10,000 visitors come to the museum each year to take part in its Cultural Lessons and Demonstrations Educational Program, view its exhibits, for public programming, or to simply experience the unique blend of history, education and culture. The permanent exhibit showcases some of the oldest professional photographs of African American people, the original 1863 school bell, and artifacts related to Sea Island and African American history and culture.
